Nothing says “I LOVE AFRICA!” like a stylish, Ankara bag from MYG. Every time you see our fabric’s vibrant colors and distinctive patterns, you can almost hear the African music, hear the beautiful languages, smell the delicious foods, and see the people dancing.  And that’s what we specialize in here, at Monrovia Young Girl (MYG)– an authentic, culture-rich fashion experience.

My name is Tetee Semi-Zor Kuyateh, and I am the sew-crazy woman behind MYG.  After seeing Ankara become a surging trend in fashion and home décor, I knew there was no better time to embrace my Liberian roots and share the magic of Africa with the world.  I began making bags myself, pairing quality fabrics with fine leather, reliable hardware, and other luxury materials to create runway-ready looks.  The more I made, the more I knew I was on to something.  So, I continued to make high-end designs that aren’t just eye-catching, but durable, and sophisticated, too.

I was born in the Liberian capital of Monrovia, and my heritage is everything to me!  I came to the United States in 1990, fleeing a civil war in my country.  More than 30 years later, I am living the American Dream as a community pharmacist in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Monrovia Young Girl doesn’t just tell my story; it allows me to share a piece of my beloved culture with the rest of the world.
